Uncle Acid & the Deadbeats Sign to Rise Above

August 24, 2012 by A.S. Van Dorston

Uncle Acid & the Deadbeats, who’s second album, Blood Lust spread their message of “misery and disappointment” throughout the blogosphere like a doomsday virus, rating highly on end of year lists, including a number seven spot on Fester’s Lucky 13 list, have signed to Rise Above records. Hopefully this means Rise Above will finally make a reissue of their impossible-to-find first album, Vol. I (2010) available. See the press release after the jump for details on their third album, and also labelmates Purson.

Press Release:

Having recently signed to Rise Above Records, Uncle Acid & the Deadbeats are scheduled to enter the studio on Halloween 2012 to record their third full length album. As yet untiled, it’s scheduled for release around the time of their exclusive UK show at the Garage, London on Friday 22nd March 2013.

Upon signing to Rise Above Records, Uncle Acid states, “Rise Above is the perfect home for us. Its great to work with a label who are fully supportive of our psychotic musical vision. We’ve already locked ourselves in the cellar to work on strange new music which will be dumped on you all next year. ”

The popularity of this mysterious bunch initially stemmed from people discovering tracks uploaded by them to Youtube, without any other hype. Two extremely limited self-financed mail order only Cd-r’s were released (Vol 1 & Blood Lust) and interest in the band grew rapidly.

A vinyl edition of Blood Lust was released by Rise Above Records in 2011, which sold out instantly. Demand for this vinyl edition of their second album set the record collecting market on fire, with first pressing copies fetching up to £700 on eBay.

Whilst the electrifying quality of their music is unquestionable, their true identity still remains a mystery. All of this is about to change when they are finally unveiled for this hugely anticipated performance.

” We look forward to finally bringing our shambolic show of misery and disappointment to the thugs and thieves of old London town. See you all in March for a night of madness!” Uncle concludes.

Special guests are much talked about London band Purson, who are currently putting the finishing touches to their also much anticipated debut album, The Circle And The Blue Door. It is due due for release on Rise Above Records late/early 2012/13. This most unique band have been keeping a low profile, locked away in the studio since their performance with Comus earlier in the year.

Tickets are on sale now and there are only 50 left, so act fast to avoid disappointment. They’re available from the following link;
