The Volta just squeaks out on top of a heap of releases, concluding a very METAL (and neo-prog) March that include Astra, 3 Inches Of Blood, Meshuggah, Black Breath, Angel Witch, Janus, Ministry, Overkill, and just a couple significant pop releases in Miike Snow, and of course, Madonna. Those who think there’s something wrong with past Mars Volta albums see Noctourniquet as some sort of return to form. That’s a load of crap. When you see a mountain, do you nitpick over things that’s wrong with it? No. It is what it is, and either you appreciate it for what it is, or you don’t. Mars Volta albums are like that. | Pop Matters
