Interesting piece, but it ignores the fact that sludge is long in Baroness’ past, and they’re no longer based in Savannah. Lots of divided opinions on the album before it’s even officially out. There’s always a part of the metal community that’s resistant to change. Baroness still has elements of prog, psych and hard rock, and are still great. But sludge metal? Nope.
