Things have been quiet for fans of Garage Noir lately. The Flaming Stars may have broken up since their last album in 2006, and I feared the same for Gallon Drunk, who were last heard in 2007 with The Rotten Mile. Their UK-only album, The Road Gets Darker From Here, came out quietly last week, but is certainly not a quiet album. The usual parts Cramps and Gun Club, with extra menacing Birthday Party influence. Fans of Grinderman should give this a listen. | The Quietus
