List Search Enhanced, Contest Ends Friday

February 10, 2020 by A.S. Van Dorston

I completed phase two of my site redesign, which includes the option to toggle between and/or for the genre filters. Since this could confuse folks participating in the contest, I’ll give you a hint. There is a single genre titled “psych prog” that will get the answer you need for the question, “What was the lucky #13 psych prog album of the 1970s?

I gotta be honest, for those who entered the contest, odds are extremely high of being one of the four prize winners. I’m talking double digits percentage currently. More about the prizes below.

Firstly, more about the List Search. In the example below, “and” narrows the results to albums that include both “global” and “psych” genres, while “or” would expand the results to include all albums in both genres.

So more about the prizes. 1 Year of Spotify Premium and $100 Bandcamp gift cards are self-explanatory. The Drop x Sennheiser HD 58X Jubilee Headphones are awesome. Benefiting from technical improvements from the more recent HD 600 and 650, the headphone looks and sounds very similar to those models, that still run for around $500. I got to spend a few weeks listening to a pair last year, and it blew me away how great it sounded. By far the best headphone available at that pricepoint.

The first winner drawn on Saturday will get to pick which prize they prefer. The fourth prize, the Grab Bag from Dr. Fester’s Bucket O’ Nasties, is no booby prize. Below is what the winner will get to choose from, or get the whole lot.

CDs: Some are pictured here, full list will be provided to winner.

Up to two years of back issues of Vive Le Rock (plus a few of Louder Than War). I read most magazines digitally on my Kindle Fire these days, but still subscribe to those two. Along the lines of other high quality print mags like MOJO, Shindig, Uncut, Prog, Classic Rock, Metal Hammer, etc, but focused on old and new punk/post-punk.

Louder Than War mixes in indie and alt rock through the unique lens of editor John Robb, who’s also the leader of The Membranes. See back issues here.

Patches & Stickers: Winner’s choice.

Concert t-shirts: Most are men’s size L, a few are M.
